Roz Stanley has recently been appointed as a Mesothelioma UK ambassador to support the charity in a voluntary capacity. Roz works as a Senior Project Manager at NHS England and will bring her expertise in data analysis and reporting to this role.
Initially, Roz will be focusing on the findings of the recent data collated by the Get Data Out programme from the National Disease Registration Service, part of NHS England. The data has just been released and Roz will be working on a report and recommendations later this year.
Roz explains her background with Mesothelioma UK: “I started working with Liz (Darlison, now Chief Executive of Mesothelioma UK) in the same lung cancer team around the year 2000 in a data/audit management role.
“Later, I moved on to project manage the national lung cancer audit with the Royal College of Physicians and the NHS Information Centre. During the time, I’m proud that I helped to get mesothelioma data included in the audit, for the first time.
“I’ve always been interested in ‘underdog’ cancers, such as lung cancer and mesothelioma, that may not get the same funding as other more high profile cancers. This is why I’m delighted to be able to help Mesothelioma UK in a voluntary capacity this year to get real value from the collection of patient data.”
