If you have been given a diagnosis of mesothelioma, there are certain benefits that you may be able to claim along with government lump sum compensation. You should not be put off if you have not claimed benefits before. You have a legal entitlement to some of these benefits and some of them are not affected by your level of household income or savings.

Mesothelioma UK funds three specialist benefits advisors:

Caroline Barry, Citizens Advice Leicestershire.
Caroline takes cases across Leicester city and Leicestershire and also provides benefit advice nationally through our Information Line to anyone with a mesothelioma diagnosis, their family members or carers.  She will sign post to local Asbestos Support Groups and other appropriate organisations.

To contact Caroline call 0800 169 2409 or email info@mesothelioma.uk.com

Sarah Thomas, Citizens Advice Newcastle.
Sarah takes cases from across North East England.

To contact Sarah call 07585539498 or email sarah.thomas@newcastlecab.org.uk

Lisa Booth, HASAG.
Lisa specifically deals with benefits for veterans. If you were in the armed forces and would like advice about your benefits, please contact Lisa by calling
02380 010 016 or email lisa@hasag.co.uk

There is a lot of information available on benefits. We have produced some information to guide you, however we do recommend you get in touch with a benefits advisor to explain to what you may be entitled.
