In 2018, Mesothelioma UK, working in partnership with Dash Global, undertook a survey of mesothelioma patients across the UK.  

This was Mesothelioma UK’s second large–scale survey seeking to comprehensively capture real world experience of what it is like to be diagnosed, be living with, and treated or cared for if you have mesothelioma in the UK.  

The questionnaire was divided into three sections: 

1. Patient experience of care and treatment 
2. Quality of life assessment questionnaire using the validated EQ-5DL tool 
3. Individual clinical management of mesothelioma 

There were 503 validated responses.

In 2012, supported by the Mick Knighton Mesothelioma Research Fund, Mesothelioma UK undertook a survey of mesothelioma patients across the UK.  

 652 Patients or carers completed a paper survey comprising of 79 questions. The questions followed the patient’s care pathway and copies of the survey were distributed by Mesothelioma UK nurses, via the free phone helpline, by asbestos support groups and by members of the National Lung Cancer Forum for Nurses. 

Findings provided comprehensive insight into the experience of being diagnosed, treated and cared for following a mesothelioma diagnosis.
