Mesothelioma UK Appoints New Community Fundraising Assistant

Mesothelioma UK, the national asbestos-related cancer charity, has appointed Rachel Hunter as its new Community Fundraising Assistant.

Rachel will be based at the charity’s headquarters in Mountsorrel, Leicestershire. She will be supporting the fundraising team with the stewardship of community fundraisers, and managing and developing relationships with existing and new fundraisers.

Rachel will also help with a range of local and national fundraising events supporting the charity such as Muffins for Meso, Race Day 2026 at Leicester Racecourse, the London Landmarks Half Marathon and other events.

Commenting on her new role, Rachel said: “After enjoying a career in education where I taught history in secondary schools for 30 years, I wanted to take on a new challenge where I could utilise some of the skills picked up whilst teaching and focus on doing something to make a difference.

“I am really looking forward to supporting the community of fundraisers at Mesothelioma UK, both locally and nationally. I’m also keen to spend time out in the community, meeting supporters, building relationships and helping the charity continue to grow.”

Mesothelioma is a cancer related to exposure to asbestos and predominantly affects the lining of the lungs. The UK has the highest incidence of the disease in the world, with around 2,700 people diagnosed each year.

If you would like to speak to Rachel or the fundraising team about getting involved in community events for Mesothelioma UK, please contact fu*********@*************uk.com or 0800 169 2409 (option 2).
