Mesothelioma UK was delighted to welcome Jane Hunt, MP for the Loughborough constituency, to our Mountsorrel head office in Leicestershire in February 2024.
Jane spoke to around 30 mesothelioma patients from our East Midlands support groups. She talked about how she got involved with Mesothelioma UK, the size of the asbestos exposure problem, how she has been supporting our work and how she will continue to do so as our local MP.
Jane has been a dedicated supporter of the charity, promoting our Don’t Let The Dust Settle campaign for asbestos removal and tabling discussions around the subject in the House of Commons including a high profile Westminster Hall debate around Asbestos in Workplaces.
“Meeting many mesothelioma patients here continues to highlight the importance of the Mesothelioma UK campaign that I am supporting. I am so proud that we have a national charity doing such great work in our community and I will continue to support them as much as I can.” – Jane Hunt MP
“It was amazing for Jane to take time out of her busy schedule to come and talk to our East Midlands patients and their families. There was a vibrant conversation and people really appreciated her clear support and compassion, not only for patients currently undergoing treatment but also in terms of addressing the root problem of eliminating further exposure to asbestos for future generations.” Louise Nelson, Mesothelioma UK Clinical Nurse Specialist
