Study into ‘living well’ with mesothelioma

Have you or a member of your family been living with pleural mesothelioma for at least the last six months? Are you interested in sharing your experience of the ways in which you have been able to ‘live well’ during that time?

“Living Well with Meso” is a study run by Sheffield University and funded by Mesothelioma UK in association with the National Lung Cancer Forum for Nurses. It aims to look at ways in which people with pleural mesothelioma, and/or family members can suggest ways that could improve the experience of having this condition for others.

What will happen during this study?

Researchers will speak to patients and their family carers, usually on the phone, and ask questions about how life has been since mesothelioma affected their lives. The researchers will look at how people have managed to cope and adapt, how priorities have altered to make the best of their situation and what positive things they have learnt to manage challenging situations.

Why is this research being conducted?

We know that living with pleural mesothelioma is life changing and challenging. The interviews will be used to make positive suggestions to help other patients and family carers facing a similar situation.

Who can take part?

If you or someone in your family has recently received a diagnosis of pleural mesothelioma (within the last six months), you may be able to take part in this research.

What do I do if I am interested in taking part?

The research will open on June 25th 2019. If you are interested in taking part before that date please register your interest by contacting our freephone information line on 0800 169 2409 or email info@mesothelioma.uk.com. The team will discuss the project in more detail and pass your details on to the researchers.
