Paying Tribute to Emily-Jane Scandrett

We wanted to pay tribute to Emily-Jane Scandrett, an incredible, dedicated and deeply valued member of the mesothelioma community, whose funeral is happening today.

Emily-Jane was a tireless advocate for everyone living with mesothelioma. Determined to raise awareness and improve understanding of this devastating disease, she appeared on daytime television, spoke at numerous events and regularly attended Mesothelioma UK gatherings to share her experience with honesty, courage and compassion. Her voice brought visibility to so many who often feel unheard.

Emily-Jane took part in numerous fundraising events and incredibly completed a 27 mile Hallow 12 Parish Challenge in 2024, raising over £9,000 for Mesothelioma UK and Asbestos Support Central England. She inspired her family and friends to join multiple initiatives — including her husband Ryan and 11 friends who walked nearly 30 miles in 2025 and raised almost £12,000.

Alongside this, Emily-Jane documented her journey through her blog and online platforms, generously sharing updates about her treatment, her family life and the realities of living with mesothelioma. Through her openness, she educated, reassured and inspired countless others facing similar challenges.

Our thoughts are with Emily-Jane’s husband Ryan, her two boys and step daughter, her parents and all her loved ones during this difficult time. The team at Mesothelioma UK will forever be grateful for her support, kindness and friendship. We were lucky to have known her and have her champion our cause.
