One Cancer Voice Statement to inform Government’s 10-year Cancer Plan

Mesothelioma UK has joined over 50 other cancer charities to sign the One Cancer Voice Statement in response to the Government’s call for evidence to inform its 10-year Cancer Plan.

The statement calls for an improved cancer strategy in the Cancer Plan and sets out 10 tests that we, as a collective, feel the Government’s new plan must meet.

The One Cancer Voice Statement details tests for the Cancer Plan that cover the following areas:

  • Funding and accountability
  • Prevention
  • Public awareness, engagement and action
  • Early detection and diagnosis
  • Treatment
  • Personalised care
  • Workforce
  • Inequalities
  • Research
  • Data

Mesothelioma is supporting this statement because we strongly share the concerns of patients, carers and health staff of delays in diagnosis and treatment. The new Plan must be ambitious in scope to recover from the pandemic and to close the gap between England and the best performing countries in the world.

There is an urgent need to level up by focusing on inequalities across the cancer pathway so that everyone gets the very best cancer care.
