Mesothelioma UK has appointed Megan Huxtable and Mollie Shields to strengthen its fundraising team. Megan joins as the charity’s new Community Fundraising Officer and Mollie is the Corporate Fundraising Manager.
The two appointments will support Mesothelioma UK’s fundraising team by driving new campaigns, and building closer relationships with corporate donors, sponsors and volunteers for the charity.
Megan and Mollie will both be based at Mesothelioma UK’s head office in Leicestershire and will work alongside the wider operations team. Megan’s role involves establishing the charity’s UK-wide community of volunteers and fundraisers, and developing a calendar of fundraising events in areas where Mesothelioma UK clinical nurse specialists are based. Mollie will be responsible for developing and implementing corporate fundraising partnerships and activities, including charity of the year collaborations, monthly donations, and sponsorship for services and events.
Megan previously worked as a primary school teacher and part-time for a charity that taught English as a second language to children in Spain and Morocco, which inspired her to take on a full-time role with Mesothelioma UK. Mollie worked as a tax consultant for five years, working with a range of different corporate clients and building strong relationships.
Liz Darlison, CEO of Mesothelioma UK, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Megan and Mollie to these key roles in our operations team, and are excited for the experience, engagement and skills that they will bring to the charity. Their appointments will help to grow our funding efforts that are vital in helping us to support the mesothelioma community in the UK.”
