Mesothelioma UK has launched its new three-year strategy, setting out a vision for the future of mesothelioma care, research and prevention across the UK.
The strategy focuses on the achievements of the charity over the last three years, and outlines the aims and objectives of its five strategic pillars from 2025-28. These pillars are: improved outcomes and experience, research and audit, information, awareness and sustainability.
As part of this new strategy, Mesothelioma UK will expand its network of Mesothelioma UK Clinical Nurse Specialists, strengthen its support services, and work closely with leading research institutions to ensure progress is made in improving outcomes for patients and families.
Achievements from 2022-25 included:
- 36,322 pieces of information disseminated
- 1,200 support line contacts
- 72,123 nursing hours funded in the NHS
- 94,800 episodes of care provided by Mesothelioma UK nurses:
- 1,148 support groups attended

Mesothelioma is a cancer related to exposure to asbestos and predominantly affects the lining of the lungs. The UK has the highest incidence of the disease in the world with around 2,700 people diagnosed each year.
