Mesothelioma UK is bidding a fond farewell to Sarah Morgan, Mesothelioma UK Clinical Nurse Specialist and lead for Project Cymru.
Sarah is now retiring, having joined us in 2017 after a long and distinguished nursing career in palliative care and lung cancer. She joined our team as the Mesothelioma UK Clinical Nurse Specialist for Wales and during the past six years, has tirelessly advocated for better access to care and treatments for people with mesothelioma, becoming our Project Lead for Wales.
Sarah ensured the Welsh voice was heard at a national and international level. In 2021, the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee announced the commissioning of mesothelioma services in Wales including a national Multi Disciplinary Team and optimal pathway. Sarah has continued to be the leading voice in developing the service specification and ensuring the establishment of a mesothelioma network across Wales.
Leah Taylor, Head of Nursing at Mesothelioma UK said: “As Sarah now looks towards her forthcoming retirement, we would like to acknowledge the contribution that she has made. Her optimism, expertise and determination will be missed by her colleagues across the UK and beyond, and of course, by her patients and families.
“Sarah has made a significant and lasting contribution to Mesothelioma UK and the wider mesothelioma community in Wales. We want to acknowledge Sarah’s achievements and thank her for her years of dedicated service. We wish her well for many more adventures to come!”
