Mesothelioma UK recently expanded its Operational Team by appointing a Senior Corporate Relations Officer.
Mike brings significant experience in business development, in particular working in the asbestos-related diseases sector. Mike’s main responsibility in this new role will be to forge links and relationships with organisations which have an involvement with asbestos or asbestos diseases. This will include asbestos management companies, construction companies and health and safety organisations.
Mike will work with companies to raise awareness of Mesothelioma UK and what the charity can offer. It is hoped that the charity can then collaborate with the companies on projects which will support the work of Mesothelioma UK and highlight the dangers of asbestos to organisations and people who may come into contact with it.
Prior to this role, Mike was a Business Development Executive with law firm, Irwin Mitchell for around nine years where he developed links between personal injury lawyers and healthcare professionals, to help with mesothelioma compensation cases.
Before that he spent 14 years working for a pharmaceutical company, Pierre Fabre Ltd. It was during his time at the pharmaceutical company that he developed an interest in mesothelioma after the company developed a drug which was used to treat mesothelioma patients. His previous roles have given Mike a wealth of experience with professionals who work in the field of asbestos-related diseases.
Commenting on his new role, Mike said: “With a genuine interest in helping to raise awareness of the dangers of asbestos and my experience with organisations in the field, I am really looking forward to helping to develop new and existing relationships for Mesothelioma UK.
“Forging links with companies while we cannot meet face-to-face will no doubt be a challenge but it’s one that I’m ready for!”
