Pat Stone died as a result of mesothelioma, believed to have been caused by asbestos mats and gauze in the labs where she taught science in an inner London school. The charity created in her name has committed to fund a dedicated nurse in London until 2020, when Mesothelioma UK will take over the funding, as well as funding a research paper in the field of Mesothelioma.
HASAG was founded in 2006 by the family of Dave Salisbury, who had mesothelioma. HASAG is funding a specialist Mesothelioma UK nursing post for three years, after which Mesothelioma UK will take over the funding.
The Mick Knighton Mesothelioma Research Fund – now part of the British Lung Foundation - was established by Chris Knighton MBE in memory of her husband, Mick Knighton.
