Services: A service for patients with asbestos related disease, their families and carers. It is provided in St Mary's Hospice in collaboration with the Benefits Agency, Social Services, local unions, the Citizens Advice Bureau and expert lawyers. BARDS meets one the 3rd Monday of each month at St Marks Church which is on the corner of Buccleugh Street and Rawlinson Street, Barrow in Furness, LA14 1BX.
Bristol and Beyond Asbestos Family Support
The Bristol Area Asbestos Family Support Group which was established in May 2011, has now changed their name to 'Bristol and Beyond Asbestos Family Support', The Group has members from Bristol, Bath, Portishead, Bridgwater, Minehead and as far across the Bridge to Barry in South Wales. The group was set up to support people and their families who have been diagnosed with asbestos related lung diease and they put on planned events and study days where they can get together. A light lunch and refreshments is supplied and the aim is to keep it light hearted and informative by inviting relevant speakers the patients think will be useful.

Meets every 6 weeks at the local hospital to provide support to patients and carers. Includes refreshments, exercise class, guest speakers. Provides a warm welcome to all patients and carers who have been affected by lung cancer and Mesothelioma.
East Midlands Mesothelioma Support Group - Leicester

The Group meets on the last Wednesday of the month at Coping with Cancer, Helen Webb House, 35 Westleigh Road, Leicester LE3 0HH. The group meets informally each month, except January, for patients and their carers affected by Mesothelioma - all are welcome. Invited speakers provide useful information and friendly support.The topics that have been discussed are breathlessness, complementary therapies, palliative care & symptom management, nutritional advice, keeping spiritually well and taking action & fundraising. Once a year the group organises a day out and each meeting a raffle is held and the money raised goes towards funding this event. Light refreshments are served during the meeting.

Services: The group offers a welcome environment providing mutual support and information for Lung Cancer/Mesothelioma patients and their carers. Mesothelioma Support Group at Papworth Hospital, Cambridge

Talks have included relaxation, breathlessness & complementary therapies. The group is very active and has formed its own committee helping to provide mutual support for patients and carers. They have designed their own logo and sweatshirts, wristbands etc and have frequent outings and events to help raise awareness of the disease. A separate meeting every month at Hemingford Abbots Village Hall PE28 9AH is specifically for carers to share concerns & experiences with others in a similar situation.
