MESSY - Mesothelioma Support Yorkshire

Do you, or does someone you know have Mesothelioma? 

Would you like someone to talk to? 

We would like to welcome you to join our support group Mesothelioma is a form of cancer which affects the thin membranes, lining the chest (pleural mesothelioma) or, less commonly, the lining of the abdomen (peritoneal mesothelioma). 

It is usually caused by exposure to asbestos. The Mesothelioma Support Group meets at; Park Plaza Hotel, Leeds, and we aim to provide support and practical advice to people with Mesothelioma and their carers. 

We meet every six weeks on a Friday afternoon, between 2.00pm and 4.00pm. Future meeting dates are listed below:-

  • 13 January 2017
  • 24 February 2017
  • 7th April 2017
  • 19th May 2017
  • 30th June 2017
  • 7th July 2017 - Action Mesothelioma Day Event
  • 11 August 2017
  • 22 September 2017
  • 10 November 2017
  • 15 December 2017

The first half of the meeting is based around a talk on subjects such as; 

• Relaxation • New Treatments • Nutrition • Breathlessness • Complimentary Therapies. 

The second half of the meeting provides an opportunity to talk to group member over tea and cake. We aim to provide direct access to at least two health care professionals at each meeting, as well as a legal representative, who will be on hand to discuss legal issues.

The meetings are all free of charge and refreshments are provided.
