How about organising a fundraising event, like a coffee morning, cake sale or tombola? Or you could get sponsored for taking on a challenge like a running, walking or cycling event.

You can even help us raise funds while you shop (lots of online retailers, including Amazon) or book your next holiday!

If you have items to sell on eBay, you can donate a percentage of the proceeds to Mesothelioma UK.

Have a look at our fab fundraisers for inspiration and see what wonderful personal goals and achievements they have reached and the sense they feel of doing something grand.

We've created an A-Z of fundraising ideas.

Let us know about your fundraising endeavours as we can help you every step of the way with your event by providing t-shirts, collection tins, leaflets, posters, gift aid forms, sponsorship forms and much more.

Hold a fundraising event

You may want to hold your own event, like a cake sale, tombola stall, coffee morning or a quiz night. Maybe even a summer or winter ball!

It doesn't matter how big or small the event is, everything helps to raise awareness about mesothelioma and supporting Mesothelioma UK.

If you are taking part in any type of event you can set up your own fundraising page which will help to raise your profile, you can tell your story and why you want to personally fundraise for Mesothelioma UK.

Just click on the Just Giving or Virgin Money Giving link and start fundraising today.

When raising money for a charity event, always try to be honest with your sponsors about the reasons why you want to raise money for Mesothelioma UK. Give them some background information, tell them about the charity and it's services and why it is important to you, being more personal may make them more likely to sponsor you.

Here's a handy guide on how to plan an event.

Get sponsored

Staff from the Asbestos Removal Contractors Association (ARCA) completed a sponsored bike challenge

From abseiling to Zumba, the list of things you can be sponsored to do are endless. Bungee jump, skydive, run, cycle, give up alcohol, see how long you can be silent, grow a moustache or shave your head!

Please make sure you let us know about your sponsorship activities so that we can provide you with support, a fundraising pack and include you on our fab fundraising pages.

Email us or call free on 0800 169 2409, we'd love to hear from you.

Sponsorship forms are included in our fundraising packs but if you require more you can download them here.

Please remember to Gift Aid your donation to us if possible and remember to tell your friends and family to Gift Aid their donations too. For every £10 donated we get an extra £2.50 from the government making your donation £12.50 at no extra cost to you.

Remember to carry your sponsor forms where ever you go, you never know who you are going to meet who would be happy to sponsor you! Approach all the networks you are involved in such as your place of work, sports/gym, football/rugby/golf clubs, school, church, fishing/angling and your local community groups such as the local Round Table, Womens Institute, The Freemasons or Rotary Club! You would be surprised how eager they are to help you raise money for charity.

If you are taking part in any type of event you can set up your own fundraising page which will help to raise your profile, you can tell your story and why you want to personally fundraise for Mesothelioma UK.

A great way to raise money online is to set up a Justgiving or a Virgin Money Giving page, it's such an easy and efficient way to raise money for all your family, friends and colleagues. It only takes about five minutes to set up your page and you can add photos and a write up about the reasons why you want to support us, then just e-mail it to your family and friends and off you go.

When raising money for a charity event, always try to be honest with your sponsors about the reasons why you want to raise money for the Mesothelioma UK. Give them some background information, tell them about the charity and our services and why it is important to you, being more personal may make them more likely to sponsor you.

We love hearing your stories and getting your photos so we can share the amazing efforts of our supporters.

Fundraising is about having fun and raising money and whilst doing that being safe and within the law. Mesothelioma UK does not want you to accidentally break any laws so if you decide to hold a fundraising event you must always consider health and safety and any legal requirements when doing any fundraising activity.

Please contact your local authority and ask for their advice and visit the Health and Safety Executive who will provide advice on keeping safe and legal. Visit the Institute of Fundraising at www.institute-of-fundraising.org.uk which features information on the best ways to fundraise.
