Emily Gibson

Emily is taking part and raising funds for the Charitable Trust in the Margam Kite Festival on the 2nd -5th June which is the Diamond Jubilee Weekend. Steve Gibson Emily's Dad organised the first Kite Festival at Margam Park in 1994, at that time he ran the Way-on-High kite shop in Hereford. Sadly Steve passed away aged 60 in December 2011 two months having been diagnosed with mesothelioma and this is what has spurred Emily on to take part and fly the Kite for Mesothelioma UK. (Picture courtesy of Margam Kite Festival)

Adele Metcalfe

Adele on the 31st of March will be raising money by selling her sew & make felt bits at Durham Outdoor Market. The manager was so impressed with Adele's business initiative to raise money for the Charitable Trust that he has given Adele her stall, free of charge. Adele is going to sew and make felt bags with a chocolate treat, flower mobiles, balloon mobiles, heart mobiles amongst a myriad of other lovely things and she will be selling Easter Cup Cakes, so go on and have a treat whilst helping Adele who is only 12 years old raise money for her chosen charity.
The picture of Adele shows her holding one of the Boofles she made last year that raised £30.00 for the charity and her fundraising ventures didn't start there.. Adele helped care for her Gran and Granda for 5 years and when they sadly died she turned her spare time into fund raising by helping her brother raise £4,200 for a trip to Uganda to help renovate a school, she next organised a bike ride along with her friend Sarah to raise money for Haiiti which they managed £80.00, then last year after losing a dear auntie to mesothelioma she took on making the boofles for us. Adele is an inspiration to us all, she has shown with hard work and determination you can make a difference and it doesn't matter how old or young you are you can achieve your goals, we know that she certainly has made a difference to us.

Tom Hill's Weight Loss Event...

Tom has been inspired to lose weight having had a meeting with his local pharmacy scales and he has decided he would like to lose 56 pounds in 56 weeks.. This is one huge challenge and Tom having thrown down the gauntlet knows it will be a very very arduous task,  with his love of cooking gourmet food and his fondness of the wines of the world and scrumpy to boot, he is embarking on a long journey of self belief and commitment and he knows with the support of his wonderful partner Linda and his family and friends he has a fantastic chance of doing this wonderful feat not only for himself but also by raising awareness about the dangers of asbestos and mesothelioma. Tom's Dad Arthur lives in Australia and he has recently been diagnosed with mesothelioma after being exposed over 51 years ago. Being this far apart from his Dad makes it that bit more difficult but with his determination he will make a difference by doing this wonderful thing which is  something positive not only for himself but for others. If you would like to support Tom then please click here for Toms Just Giving Page and make your donation.

Annie Wood

Annie is on an awareness raising mission and is having a small stand in the foyer of her local Tesco's in Epping High Street on Saturday 11th February, so if you are around that area go in and say hello...

Shevaun Joy and the Co-operative Group

Shevaun Joy has again pledged her support and bought the attention of the charity and the work we do to the Co-operative Group who have two garages , one in Crosshills and the other in Oxonhope. The wonderful staff at both Garages have decided to don t-shirts and raise awareness about asbestos and mesothelioma as well as funds in support of the charity throughout the month of Febraury. Thank you Shevaun so much for your continued support and to the Co-operative Group  for doing something positive and helping us to raise awareness.

Colourthon 2011

Watch out for information on the Colourthon events for 2012!

The two events that make up the Colourthon are the 'Moonlight Colourthon' and 'Sunlight Colourthon'. Walkers of the 'moonlight Colourthon' will walk a half marathon (13.1 miles) at night and are encouraged to dress as brightly as their imagination will allow them to!

The walk is only open to entrants aged 16 and over. To compliment this is the 'Sunlight Colourthon' which is predominately aimed at the under 16's or anyone who feels the half a marathon is a challenge that bit too far. The 'Sunlight Colourthon' is usually held on the same day between 3 and 5pm, with the challenge being to complete as many laps as possible of a predetermined circuit in the given time.
