Examples of Information That a Solicitor Will Require From You
- Employment History
List your employment history and provide as many details as possible about the company you worked for and how you were exposed to asbestos. The exposure will have occurred some time ago (10 – 50 years). Any documents that you have (for instance, payslips, P60s) that could prove your employment history will be useful. Solicitors can also write to the Inland Revenue for your employment history. Inland Revenue records are available from 1961 onwards.
- Witnesses
Perhaps, there is someone who witnessed your exposure to asbestos (for example, a former work colleague) or you know of other former work colleagues who have also developed Mesothelioma or another asbestos related disease (for example, asbestosis, asbestos related lung cancer, pleural thickening, pleural plaques).
- Mesothelioma Diagnosis
Details of your diagnosis and how the Mesothelioma is affecting you.
- Financial Circumstances
Details of your loss of earnings, expenses and potential losses in the future.
